IG 2020 Multidimensional Perspective Views by Peter.

Why multidimensional perspectives? The reason is that , in IG 2020 I wore several hats as Dennis puts it; A Mentor, A Coach, A Team Leader, A Contestant and A Jury. From each of these perspectives I took time to closely review the IG 2020 online with a view to offer my independent reflections.

Overall, I can baldly say that I came out better informed about this Vision of the century; “ A Planet of Loving Creators” and with Vadim and his team at the helm navigating the IG warship, victory for everyone looks more certain to me than ever before.

John Maxwell states that, “ Leadership is influence” I agree with him and I would also add that, “ LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT SHOWING AND LEADING THE WAY.” It is this second perspective about leadership which motivated me to share my reflections on IG 2020.

Here are a few nuggets about what I observed as I wore each hat:

As a Mentor: In this role my greatest joy was in taking time with each of the Zimbabwe VLC team members, holding their hands as some of them hesitantly took part in Innompic Games for the very first time. Vadim allowed me the freedom to break rules and protocols, not only once but numerous times.

As a Coach : If the truth be told, the Zimbabwe VLC team was not the easiest of groups for one to coach, I don’t even know where I got the courage from. First it was a mixture of young women (four) and men(three) with all of them in a different profession.( ICT, Finance, Agriculture, Travel, Manufacturing, Distribution & Venderneuship). Vadim, you personally constantly encouraged me to believe in the team , and in the end everyone of them was a winner .

As a Team Leader: This was no mean task , I was challenged by the presence of a multinational team of experts from many nations and all continents of the world. The greatest lesson for me was realizing that I did not need to be like any of these great leaders, I just needed to be myself. Again , I am grateful to Vadim for allowing me to fail in a winning way ( that’s new hey), yes I made blunders during IG but Vadim took them as alternatives to the norm. That type of attitude you don’t get from many visionaries without being booted out. Many would have said “ Peter this is not a place for trial and error, we mean serious business “..... But Vadim your patience outplayed anything I have seen in my over thirty years as a leadership practitioner .

As Contestant: Ohhhh my God, I am generally a serous person . My mantra is; “ The business of our business is , business” . Vadim would remind me that as great admirer of late Jack Welch it was import to remember one of Jack’s lessons ( lesson 23) “ Constantly Focus On Innovation “. That reminder from Vadim motivated me to view Innovation from a totally different perspective. I submitted jokes and created marketing slogans for IG 2020 contests. I know some jury members must have wondered why Peter should not stick to just being a jury. Guess what that very thought encouraged me to want to even do more . I now I know that even at 66 years of age I can still innovate, thanks to the IG spirit of “ All Win” . This is something different Vadim, it can only happen in a planet of loving creators; not in Africa, not in Asia, not in North America, not in South America, not in Australia and certainly not in Europe. I am truly humbled by this love for everyone......I have a difference to make too!

As a Jury: In this role the dilemma that I faced was from a Corporate Governance point of view . How could I independently and ethically participate in these multiple roles without compromising the credibility of the whole IG jury system. Alas ! There was nothing to fear , all jury members of IG 2020 could view each other’s and their own contestant ratings and scorings . For that I take my hat off for you Vadim . It takes courage, boldness and accepting to be vulnerable on your part. However , most importantly it demonstrates true love for the IG Vision, and to this end I invite my colleagues who made IG 2020 a resounding success to join us at VLC as we say to Vadim and Team :
